raise your hand if you think valentine’s day is lame.

If you hate v.d., we totally understand.

you probably think it’s probably lame because you are lame, hater.

either that or you just don’t have anyone to spend it with.

or perhaps you’re spending it with someone that is a total loser.

we’ve all been there, kid- that’s where we come in.

we’ve still got a few spots for you to come in next tuesday and let us style you all up so good that ALL the cool kids we’ll be wanting to get up on you.

but ALAS!!! where will you FIND all of these sexy single people that are also crying into the box of russel stover’s that they bought themselves (or possibly an entire heart shaped pizza from dominos covered in garlic butter, you know who you are)? we’ve got you covered with that as well.

come to the LOVE HANGOVER, by our favorite dancing ladies and boys (and lady-boys, and boy-ladies…)

there will be a silent auction to benefit the birds and the bees project, and, as always, tons of pasties and talent.

sweet snowy day hair tip:

When the weather starts to change, it might be time to change-up your shampoo and conditioner too!

A lot of times we forget that we don’t need humidity control in the middle of winter, or static control in the middle of summer, and our shampoo’s and conditioners should reflect that.

here are a few things to consider:

  • its smart to choose both from the same line of products, and of the same brand.  There’s a high probability that  the same brand or line of shampoo will have the closest ph to its conditioner counterpart.
  • remember to have something for moisture, and something for strength.  It might be a good idea to buy two different groups of shampoo and conditioner, so that you can rotate.
  • think about your scalp. good hair can’t grow on a bad head.
  • rinse your conditioner with cooler water, it’ll help seal the conditioner in and smooth down the cuticle, making your hair healthier and shinier.
  • consult with your stylist, of course! Stylists can analyze your hair and scalp condition more accurately and provide you with specialty treatments such as tea tree scalp treatments, scientific brushing, or deep conditions.  They also can recommend what type of shampoo, conditioner, and styling product will provide you with the best results!

When all else fails, at least it’s hat season.

xoxo

doing good hair for you and good things for our community

Dear, Beautimous Clients and Friends of the Salon,

We, the foxes of the Fox Den, are happy to report that this November has been a fun-filled month of beauty, education, and giving to those in need.

Yeah, yeah, you love us ‘cause we make ya purdy but beginning this month and through the end of February, we are holding our food and fun drive via Second Harvest Heartland.  That means you can look good AND save a few bucks by donating cash or canned/non-perishable items.  For every dollar you donate we double it and discount your service up to the amount of $10.  So… say you donate a five-spot.  We will then discount your service by $10.   You will then look absolutely fabulous, not only because you saved some cash and we made you happy with your service, but because you put a smile on someone else’s face when you bought a person in need roughly eighteen meals with that fiver.

In addition to our work with Second Harvest, we also just donated some hair love to the Women’s Housing Partnership  in the form of gift cards for the WHP annual holiday party.  These gift cards are redeemable for a free haircut for women who are getting aid from the program to get into stable housing and maintain their independence.  We are excited to meet some of these strong, wonderful women in the coming months.

The ladies and man of the Den are also happy to inform y’all that we are learning new techniques from each other and from advanced color classes through Paul Mitchell Systems.  The lovely Mahogany, an all-things-regarding-hair expert extraordinaire, came to teach us a foiling/advanced color class two weeks ago and we are all very excited to have learned some new techniques from her.  Her class consisted of an overview of basic foiling, placement, and patterns, and then we got into the super-fun stuff!  Block coloring tips and techniques, tips for foiling around the hairline, and application tips for color and lightener are only a few of  the many subjects du colour that Mahogany brought to the table!  It was a blast to learn from such a creative leader in the industry.

In addition to Paul Mitchell classes you may have noticed that it’s a tad bit difficult to get in on Tuesdays between noon and two.  Well, our dear friend, that is because we have started taking turns, stylist by stylist, to teach each other new and exciting techniques during that time each week!

Last week our newest fox, Adam Boston, taught us some puuurrrrdy fancy blow-out techniques ala round-brushing and diffusing,  and this week Margot got impromptu permission from a barista friend from Caffetto to be used as a model for instruction on how to shave a design with a small clipper into the hair.  Thanks for being a sport, Matthew!

Soooo…sorry for being booked early on Tuesdays but we do it for ya’ll so were in the smart about hair goings-on and such.

In closing thank you to all of our rockin’ clients for helping give back to our awesome community and making our salon the sweet place it is by coming here for your hair needs.

Love, the Fox Den

we’ve got your hair covered, at the very least.

with our new fabulous offering to you: moroccan oil!!

It smells like heaven, works like a dream, with specially formulated serums made for both fine or blonde hair, or thick textured hair.  It speeds up drying time, smooths rough ends, ands shine and luster and gets rid of the gross static and dryness that is making everyone’s hair be t-r-o-u-b-l-e.

We mostly got it in because we are all insanely addicted, but we know once you try it, you’ll be hooked too.

Check it out! If you don’t, there’s more for us.
